Book
The book Gifts was written in 1997 with my friend Anne Sharp, a former nurse at a hospice.  During our time working at a hospice we heard and witnessed so many wonderful moments.  We felt that people needed know of such stories.   The book is filled with stories of courage, love, faith and yes even humor from many of the wonderful people who allowed us to travel this final sacred journey with them.

I hope this book and many of my other stories will bring a sense of understanding and peace during one of the most difficult times in anyone's life - the letting go of a loved one. We all experience many 'letting goes' throughout our lifetime.  Death is the final letting go but death is also a beginning.  I was given a special gift of insight into what makes life important.  It isn't the money, the status of our situations, the prestige of our name in society.  What really matters is love - love of family and friends and love of the One who created us.   Not once did any of the patients wished they had worked more hours or made more money.  What they wished they had was more time to be with their loved ones.

We will never read about these special ordinary people in our history books yet their lives are a history and their wisdom simply profound.
