Can You Hear Me

Can You Hear Me? Do You Understand?

During times of my darkest moments

my prayers are riddled with

God, can you hear me?

God, do you understand?

In His way and in His time

He always answers.

Whether it is through

silence or turbulence of nature

people journeying in and out of my life

words in a story

lyrics of a song

Always He answers –

in His way and in His time.

As I sit content within my world

A friend whooshes into my life.

He lavishes me with delightful material gifts

But more importantly he over-whelms me with the gift of

caring questions

silly humor

wonderful laughter

deep holiness

genuine kindness

He stirs my contentment

and gently begin pushing me out of my comfort zone

while quietly tearing away at my walls.

He challenge me to

look at my life

wonder about other life choices

to think of other journeys

Then he hugs me

says good-bye

and walks away

As I stand

watching him leave

I hear God whisper:

Sue, did you hear me?

Sue, do you understand?
